foster youth living in our transitional treatment home describes her art piece
below with honesty and courage.
"The heart is my heart and my heart beats. The dark line represents a dark moment and a sad time. White is a good time. Sometimes the dark over weighs the light in my life. The big dark shadow is the hardest time, like going thru abuse for example. That's why the heart has a lock. People that gained access may not have been the nicest. The red scars represent the permanent scars in my head and terrifying times that effect me til this day. But the heart is still together. STAY STRONG...I AM ARMY STRONG." - Foster Youth, age 19
